Nest PRG03R has hatched and will be inventoried Friday at 6:00 pm. It is located at the north end of the beach, just before the southernmost house in Prince George. From the Beach Club walkway, it is about a 15-20 minute walk. We hope to see you there!
Excited vacationers watch as hatchlings released from a hatched nest instinctively make their way to the ocean. Nest inventories are conducted 3 nights after a nest hatches. Volunteers dig out the contents of the nest, take inventory of hatched shells, unhatched eggs, etc. and sometimes find live hatchlings remaining in the nest that have not made it out on their own. There were 13 2 in. turtles in this previous nest inventory!
