SCDNR sent word that tomorrow is the official start of the 2021 nesting season! The 6 index beaches (South Island, Cape Island, Lighthouse Island, Edisto Beach State Park, Edisto Beach, and Fripp Island), tracked since 1982, will begin surveys. Here at DeBordieu & Hobcaw, we typically wait until there is nesting just to our south. It is usually a one day notice. On average, our first nest is near mid-May.
