Volunteers had no idea when they set out to do their surveys, that the inclement weather would be upgraded to TS Bertha. Regardless, all three sections were covered and 2 nests were located!

North: Pat called to say she had a crawl near #7mm (North Access Rd), finished her walk and returned to locate a nest on top of the dune. What a day to have your first nest of the season, Pat…true dedication!

Hobcaw: Kathi A. also had a crawl this morning and turned it into a nest just south of #5mm. She said it is in a good area and out of harm’s way. Thanks for covering our most remote, longest section on such a tough morning!

DEB 3 HOB 4 SCUTE 14 SC 638

Pat found this faint, rain-on crawl just south of #7mm at the North Access Rd.
Thankfully, the mother turtle laid her nest up of the top of a low dune at #7mm keeping it safe from high tides. Pat did a good job during today’s tropical storm conditions.
