DEB20 natural 6/8 north #14mm (Prince George)   group of 25+ Turtle Talk: Mark
Team: Anita, Lourdes, Haden
Hatch Success: 60.6%   with no hatchlings remaining in nest to release (roots in nest)

DEB34 natural 6/20 north #9mm   group of 15+
Turtle Talk: Bill
Team: Bob B., Bob C., Jane
Hatch Success: 84.9%  3 hatchlings released from nest (nest up on dune in a lot of vegetation)

8-11 A small group gathered at Prince George for the inventories of DEB19 and DEB20. There were no live hatchlings to release but they learned a lot from Mark’s turtle talk and watching the volunteers excavate the nests.
8-11 Haden did the digging job of the inventory on DEB19.
8-11 Jane holds one of three hatchlings found in the chamber of DEB34. Bob C. dug out the nest contents while Bob B. and Jane sorted and counted eggs and shells.
8-11 A hatchling’s viewpoint is quite different at ground level. With the curve of the beach it is difficult for it to hear the ocean and orient properly.
8-11 The attentive group formed the traditional 2 lines to give the 3 hatchlings space to crawl on the beach before going for the big swim in the Atlantic!
